Iran reports strikes on US- and Israel-linked targets and denounces alleged cluster bomb use in Fars province.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Saturday it carried out the 85th wave of its “True Promise 4” operation, targeting heavy industries it described as linked to United States and Israeli interests.
According to the IRGC’s Public Relations Department, the operation combined advanced missiles and drone swarms in coordinated strikes. Iranian defense units also reported intercepting an attempted attack by hostile aircraft against launch platforms during the operation.
IRGC air defenses stated that a US MQ-9 Reaper drone was shot down over Shiraz. The force further reported a successful strike on a US F-16 aircraft south of Fars province, saying it was destroyed before it could attempt an emergency landing at an airport in Saudi Arabia. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) later acknowledged that one of its aircraft sustained “significant damage” after being hit.

Senior security sources cited by Iranian authorities said the attacks were a response to what they described as escalating actions by Washington and Tel Aviv against Iran’s economic infrastructure, as well as threats of unconventional measures.
In a separate statement, the IRGC accused the United States and Israel of using cluster munitions in Fars province, calling it a violation of international humanitarian law. It reported that specialized teams identified and neutralized at least 122 submunitions in the village of Kafri, near Shiraz.
The devices were identified as BLU-108 submunitions, part of US-made CBU-105 cluster bombs. According to the IRGC, each 1,000-pound CBU-105 contains 10 anti-tank submunitions designed to produce wide-area effects prohibited under international law.
Reports circulating on social media indicated that several of these munitions struck populated areas, causing an unspecified number of casualties. Iranian authorities reiterated that their posture remains defensive and said responses would continue against US military bases in the region and strategic targets in occupied Palestinian territories while actions against Iran persist.
